South Walton Turtle Watch
You don't have to live in South Walton or near the Gulf of Mexico to help the South Walton Sea Turtle volunteers and their efforts to keep turtle nests safe along 30A. It's pretty simple... clean up all your trash, cover up any holes you or someone digs in the sand and knock down obstructions, such as sandcastles, as you leave the beach for the day. We are merely visitors to their home and should treat it as we treat ours. Visit http://www.southwaltonturtlewatch.org/how-can-you-help/ to learn more about how to do your part and help educate others. “We, as sea turtle volunteers, go through many hours of training so that we may help these wonderful sea turtles. We are learning more each year. That is why we can get a sea turtle permit which allows us to help endangered and threatened animals.” -Sharon Maxwell
The Friends of South Walton Sea Turtles is another site devoted to the education of Sea Turtle awareness. Visit https://www.friendsofswturtles.org/education/ to learn more about their efforts.
